Starter Chess (1)

Students will be introduced to the game of chess, a few pieces at a time, including an overview of the chessboard.

Movement, Captures, and rules for each piece will be taught. Simple games that are easy enough for ANYONE to learn and play will complement each lesson. All simplified games will be teaching context and strategy in its simplest form.

At the end of this course, students will have all the basic movement, captures, rules, board orientation, and understanding of check, checkmate, stalemate, and draw.

This class is 100% Outdoors (rain/shine). Masks required until we can put up the tent for better social distancing.

-Winter Garage: As the weather is still wintry, we will be limited in space to just the garage. The garage will continue to be well ventilated, and heated as needed. Wintry weather includes gusting winds. To continue to keep classes similarly sized, masks inside the garage area is still required. Let's keep a good thing going!

-The tent has netting that reduces wind, and keeps rain out. We have lighting under the tent for when the sun sets earlier. Space heaters will be used to give us a little warm when the temps get chilly. Updated policy regarding Covid safety will be announced when the tent is up again.
